The manager of the San Francisco Giants said he doesn’t plan to be on the field for the anthem “until I feel better about the direction of our country.'

San Francisco Giants manager Gabe Kapler walks to the dugout after making a pitching change during the ninth inning of a baseball game against the San Diego Padres in San Francisco, Saturday, May 21, 2022. Several of Gabe Kapler’s fellow managers are offering their support for his decision to avoid the field during the national anthem as a protest following the school shootings in southwestern Texas.

Nineteen children and two teachers were killed at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, on Tuesday. The attack occurred just 10 days after a gunman espousing racist hatred killed 10 Black people at a supermarket in Buffalo, New York.“I think we’re all frustrated, especially in this country," Woodward said. "Nobody’s happy. It’s not about which side you’re on. It’s just we’ve got to get better as a society.

Chicago White Sox manager Tony La Russa said he agrees with Kapler that something needs to be done. He just doesn’t think the anthem is the proper time to protest. “If I’m not out there it’s not because I’m boycotting anything,” Martinez said. “But I do believe that we need to figure something that’s better for everybody’s lives because what we have now is not working at all.

ok ... you don't have to publicize your choice either.

So not standing for the anthem is going to direct this country into a better direction? How about go do something. Volunteer and try cleaning up the streets in your lovely city of San Francisco. I think that would be a good start because your local politicians aren’t doing it

I wouldn’t take a paycheck either from an American employer, until I feel better about the direction of our country.

What a queef

National Anthem long history of connection to dead/maimed and served veterans. Jewish Supremacist Kapler, trained in the hate of the Talmud, would rather hide like a rat in a cellar(clubhouse office) than stand in honor. Picks Memorial Day weekend of all times to do this.

Not sure I agree with this action

Gabe Kapler - Jewish Supremacist, was taught all the hateful writings in the Talmud while growing up.

So he thinks the best way to be a leader is to hide, rather than stand tall and lead in a better direction? 🙄

Forced patriotism is not patriotism.

Looks like somebody wants some attention..

Direct Action, as little as the act itself produces change, when done with enough people, for long enough, sometimes does

Good 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Fair enough. I’m pro choice.

Judging by the posts made by both the left and right on social media, you might be waiting a while, Skipper.

What’s next? Taking a knee?

Ok Karen

Free to leave. No one keeping you here against your will.

Everyone should protest the anthem!

Sad really. Come up with something productive Gabe.

The anthem doesn't belong in sports.

Fellow MLB Managers Offer Giants' Gabe Kapler Support for ProtestKapler told reporters on Friday he won’t come out for the national anthem until he feels better about the direction of the country. he can protest and you kkk say its ok , collin Kaepernick get fired These acts aren't signs of disrespect, they're symbols of mourning for our injured country. Not taking the field is not attending the NRA conf. When a player is injured? You take a knee. When the Nation is injured by violence against minorities, you take a knee during the anthem. I applaud him. Where was that energy after the shooting in Buffalo?
