CLEVELAND, Ohio — A man and woman suspected in the shooting death of a 28-year-old man in August were arrested Tuesday by federal agents on the city’s East Side.
My’Laisa Addison, 20, and Christian Kendricks, 21, were wanted on murder charges in the August shooting death of Cardell Hawthorne, according to the U.S. Marshals Service. Addison and Kendricks were taken into custody by members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force at an apartment on the 7400 block of Garden Valley Avenue in the Garden Valley neighborhood.
Authorities say Kendricks attempted to escape by climbing out a bedroom window of the apartment when agents arrived. According to the Marshals Service, on Aug. 20, Addison was in a fight with another woman outside an apartment on the 3900 block of East 176th Street in the Lee-Miles neighborhood. Hawthorne was trying to break up the fight, authorities say, when Kendricks got out of a vehicle and shot Hawthorne multiple times.
After the shooting, Addison and Kendricks got two children out of the vehicle and fled the area on foot, federal officials say.If you purchase a product or register for an account through one of the links on our site, we may receive compensation.
