As Congress again wrestles over raising the level of debt the government can incur, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell cringed at what would happen if it fails to do so. "It's beyond even consideration. The idea that the U.S. would not honor all of its obligations and pay them when due is something that can't even be considered," the central bank leader said Tuesday in response to a question from Sen. Cnbc @CNBCLIVE: Fed Chair Powell testifies before Congress on the state of the economy and monetary policy. I truly find it to be inappropriate for this committee to use their speaking time to try to trap Chair Powell into a political debate. Its like watching the Oscars (accept your award, get off the stage), you're there to talk about the economy, not bash politicians and parties. Shame that Powell is trying to be transparent, but he has to listen to this swamp political sniping in the process. It’s embarrassing to listen to these elected officials. Each hearing nowadays is nothing more than a tennis match between dems and Rep - attack -not solve !
