The Emergent BioSolutions plant in Baltimore, Maryland is not cleared to begin making new doses of the vaccine, the FDA said.The FDA shut down the Emergent plant in April after inspectors found cross-contamination with materials for another vaccine. The agency has been checking batches that were already made to see if they’re safe, forcing some batches—worth tens of millions of doses—to be thrown out. The FDA approved three previous batches in June.
