U.S. defense officials say they are worried about an insider attack or other threat from service members involved in securing the inauguration.

U.S. defense officials say they are worried about an insider attack or other threat from service members involved in securing President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration, prompting the FBI to vet all of the 25,000 National Guard troops coming into Washington for the event.that have gripped the nation’s capital following the deadly Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol by pro-Trump rioters.

Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy told the Associated Press on Sunday that officials are conscious of the potential threat, and he warned commanders to be on the lookout for any problems within their ranks as the inauguration approaches. So far, he and other leaders say they have seen no evidence of any threats, and officials said the vetting hadn’t flagged any issues that they were aware of.

”We’re continually going through the process, and taking second, third looks at every one of the individuals assigned to this operation,” McCarthy said in an interview after he and other military leaders went through an exhaustive, three-hour security drill in preparation for Wednesday’s inauguration. He said National Guard members were also receiving training on how to identify potential insider threats.from across the country — at least two-and-a-half times the number for previous inaugurals.

Multiple officials said the process began as the first Guard troops began deploying to Washington more than a week ago. They said it was scheduled to be completed by Wednesday. Several officials discussed military planning on condition of anonymity.

Democrats wouldn't have to be scared of American patriots if they had not cheated in the election.

Lol. When so many Americans are upset that you need to do this then Biden better work harder to unify.

Hahah. Politics of fear. 20 years later and it has only evolved.

Those Trumpet allies in Congress who says convicting him would only cause more divisiveness, I got news for them, they better start vetting one and all including Tim Scott!!

This looks like a disease in which people are asymptomatic, similar to Covid19, America has it's hands full!!!

Time to do sting operations in all military and Police , unlike when you find a weak willed Muslim and plant fake bombs tell him to blow up something then rush in and say you caught a terrorist . That guy Never would of done that . Real white supremacy exists with real violence !

Wait a minute. Fences, guards, troops really do keep out people?! Have TheDemocrats SpeakerPelosi TeamPelosi HouseDemocrats SenateDems become Trump?! 😂

No conservative would want anything to happen to Biden because Harris, and if she’s gone, Pelosi? I wish Biden 4 years of good enough health to fool his cabinet.
