Zaharias says he arrived at his California home in November of 1987 to find that his ex-wife, then known as Susan Elizabeth Gammill, had packed up and left withThe Polly Klaas Foundation created renderings of what Chris and Lisa Mae might look like as adults.Zaharias has made it his life's work to find them while helping other parents with missing children.Right as he moved to San Antonio in 2021, tragedy struck just yards away from his front door.
"I knew how exactly how those parents felt from the moment of not knowing where she was," Zaharias said.And then, two weeks ago, it happened all over again as "We want to find her, but not this way," Banaras Asimi, an interpreter for Lina's family, told us at the site.Zaharias says he knows what that emotional rollercoaster is like, especially when a case goes cold.Now, he's raising awareness about family abductions and the hurdles they bring for law enforcement.
