Fast X director Louis Leterrier explains whether Brie Larson's Tess is good or bad. The mainline Fast & Furious saga is coming to an end with an epic two-part finale starting with Fast X, which is directed by Leterrier and releases in theaters this spring. The film will introduce several new characters to the franchise, the most anticipated of which are Jason Momoa's villain, Dante, and Brie Larson's Tess.
For the recent Fast X trailer reveal, Leterrier sat down with Total Film to break down some of its biggest talking points. Among his many explanations, the Fast X director elaborated on the nature of Larson's character and explained whether Tess will act as an ally or an adversary to Dom and the family. SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Dom, in this time of chaos and uncertainty, needs a light at the end of the tunnel. He needs a guardian angel to guide him towards the light. There’s a reason why Dante is called Dante. He’s going to drag Dom down to Hell, and he’ll drag everyone with him. [Tess is] the light. She’s connected to the franchise in a very strong way. But she also brings so much life, and something that we’ve never experienced before in this franchise.
Ever since Larson was cast in the mystery role, it's been theorized that Tess is Brian O'Conner's sister, and Leterrier's comments seem to support that theory, as the Fast X director says she is connected to the franchise's legacy in a strong way. Additionally, Jason Momoa's Dante is the son of the Fast Five antagonist Reyes and Rita Moreno is playing Dom's grandmother.
Leterrier previously teased that, in usual Fast & Furious fashion, Fast X will see characters switching sides. Since her exact allegiances are still unclear, Tess is certainly a character to watch out for. Whatever Fast X has in store for Tess, the franchise will undoubtedly be elevated by bringing an Oscar-winning talent like Brie Larson on board. Key Release Dates
