Fast-growing Breeze Airways adds nonstop route from Akron-Canton Airport to Las Vegas

Las Vegas is the top unserved market from Akron-Canton, according to airport officials. CAK last had nonstop service to Las Vegas in 2017, when Spirit Airlines flew the route.

The airline is similar to other low-cost carriers, offering low fares with extra fees for baggage and advanced-seat assignments. Its routes are frequently less than daily, focused on travel days most likely to appeal to vacation travelers. Routes that don’t generate a certain minimum level of revenue qualify for the subsidy, which lasts one year. State officials have declined to provide those revenue floors.

The airline plans to more than double its fleet this year, from 13 Embraer 190 and 195 aircraft to 30 aircraft, including 14 Airbus A220s and three additional Embraer jets. Breeze’s initial A220 aircraft will feature 126 seats, including 36 in first class, 10 with extra legroom and 80 in standard economy.
