Family members reflected on their memories of Santaquin Sgt . Bill Hooser at a public visitation on May 12, 2024, one week after he was killed in a hit-and-run. They shared with the close community the kind of man Sgt . Hooser was and what he meant to them.
“Bill is my best friend. We did everything together," said Lynn Starley, Hooser’s sister-in-law. "I will miss him so much."“I was okay coming here, but as soon as I started seeing all the pictures and everything... I’m in almost every picture. It tore me apart,” he said.“This day is tough," said Randy Hooser, Sgt. Hooser’s brother. "He died doing a job that he loved."PHOTOS: Vigil held in Santaquin for Sgt.
“He made everyone in the room feel like they were the only ones. Whether he was in cop mode, brother mode, or dad mode, everyone knew how important you were to Bill,” she said.“The state of Utah and the communities — everyone that has come out — has amazing support. I don’t think you would see that in other parts of the country,” Randy said.As this loss weighs on his family's hearts, they want to remind the public that Sgt. Hooser was a great man.
“The honors he's been bestowed could never be big enough or sum up what Bill was to all of us and our community,” Jodie said.
