MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Montgomery Police Department is among many law enforcement agencies in the country paying tribute to officers who died in the line of duty.
There are a total of 29 fallen officers, with Officer Carlos Taylor being the latest death, which acting Chief John Hall said reveals the need to protect officers and their communities further. “We can achieve this by fostering strong relationships between the law enforcement and community, supporting initiatives that promote safety and well-being, and advocating for policies that address the root causes of crime,” Hall said.
Chip Hill, the city of Montgomery’s chief of staff, said there is a desire to support law enforcement by ensuring they have the resources like better pay and equipment. City officials are considering a pay raise for the department to combat an ongoing officer shortage, but nothing will be brought before the City Council for another 30 days.Over a dozen people shot in Montgomery over the weekend, police say
