LOS ÁNGELES (AP) — Carl Erskine, quien lanzó dos sin hits como un pilar de los Dodgers de Brooklyn y ganó 20 juegos en la temporada 1953 cuando ponchó a un récord de 14 peloteros en la Serie Mundial, falleció el martes.

LOS ÁNGELES — Carl Erskine, quien lanzó dos sin hits como un pilar de los Dodgers de Brooklyn y ganó 20 juegos en la temporada 1953 cuando ponchó a un récord de 14 peloteros en la Serie Mundial, falleció el martes. Tenía 97 años. Erksine falleció en el Hospital Comunitario Anderson en Indiana, según Michele Hockwalt, directora de marketing y de comunicación del hospital.

Tras la muerte de Erskine, Koufax, de 88 años, es el único miembro con vida del equipo de los Dodgers que ganó al Serie Mundial 1955. Erskine fue nombrado al Juego de Estrellas 1954 tras ganar 18 juegos. Apareció cinco veces en la Serie Mundial y finalmente vencieron a los Yankees en 1955 en el único campeonato de Brooklyn. Carl Daniel Erskine nació el 13 de diciembre de 1926 en Anderson, Indiana y comenzó a jugar béisbol a los nueve años.
