, or GANs, can learn to create fake images that are less and less distinguishable from real images, by pitting two neural networks against each other.at the University of California, Berkeley, asked 315 participants, recruited on a crowdsourcing website, to say whether they could distinguish a selection of 400 fake photos from 400 photographs of real people. Each set consisted of 100 people from each of four ethnic groups: white, Black, East Asian and South Asian.

White faces were the hardest for people to distinguish between real and fake, perhaps because the synthesis software was trained on disproportionally more white faces.

Knowing that there are “fake” face: staring too long at them first a few, now all of them appear fake to me now! They are among us 😱

Humans aren't real.

These all still have the eyes too symmetrical for my taste. Plus they look like people who’ve made a career out of being charming and are therefore untrustworthy.

Bad news for Stock photographers. Real faces won't be as trustworthy as synthesized ones. Good News for plastic surgeons. AI will be directing what your face should look like.
