Even before Daryl Morey was named president of basketball operations on Nov. 2, 2020, the team had been in pursuit of James Harden. The Sixers unsuccessfully tried to trade for him in January 2021 before the Houston Rockets sent the guard to the Brooklyn Nets.
Harden did look good against the Heat in Game 4 of this series. He knocked down his patented step-back three-pointer on that night, but he failed to produce outside of that one game. Harden has said that he’ll opt into his $47.3 million player option for next season. If he picks that up, he’ll be eligible to sign a four-year, $233 million contract extension with the Sixers that would pay him $61.7 million in the 2026-27 season.
Asked if he’s willing to take less money in an extension, Harden said he’s willing to do “whatever it takes to help this team continue to grow and put us up there with the best of them.” “I’ll do that later,” he said. “I’m not going to do that after the game. We all showed up to the win the game. Not one of us didn’t, all right?
PompeyOnSixers You let Harden opt in for next season. You don't extend him after that. You put the ball in Maxey's hand. Tell Harden you are now a spot up corner 3 shooter. You tell Embiid we need to extend your career. You are going to get less touches. Thybulle become a shooter or you're out.

Considering Morey gave up Seth, Andre, and Ben to get him, if/when Harden gets gone, Morey needs to follow him. All that Hinkie 'The Process' and all is left is Embiid!? As Philly watches LaVine (passed over for Saric) and Mikal Bridges (for Zhaire Smith) shine. GottaHurt
Let him opt out please…
Best value is a sign and trade
