After being served with a search warrant, Facebook provided the last location of the mobile device logged by the account on January 6 at around 3:30 p.m. EST, which was “in the vicinity of the U.S. Capitol,” the FBI claimed.
Facebook has tried to downplay the extent that rioters used the social network to coordinate, and broadcast, the events of January 6 with Facebook chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg claiming that it was mainly plotted on fringe apps. However, Facebook has been frequently cited in charging documents filed by the Justice Department in the last two weeks.
