Facebook bans white nationalism after pressure from civil rights groups

that Facebook’s policies banned white supremacy but allowed white nationalism and white separatism.

Color of Change, an advocacy group that has called on tech companies to do more to fight racial hatred, called Facebook’s decision a “critical step forward.” Twitter does not explicitly ban white nationalism, though its rules tell users they may not affiliate with organizations that “use or promote violence against civilians.” Its rules also prohibit the use of “hateful images or symbols” in profile images, and Twitter says it enforces those policies vigorously and regardless of ideology.

Why just white nationalism? Why not extremism of all types? This is ridiculous facebook is an embarrassment and likes to infringe on 1st amendment rights.

The irony is that white nationalism is linked here to hate, where other 'nationalism' is linked to 'power' or the 'struggle to be free' or even just 'pride in the community' etc etc. And ironically this visible, even if justified, hypocrisy, only fuels white nationalists' fears.
