Facebook has taken its most aggressive step to root out incendiary content by banning prominent controversial media figures including Alex Jones, Louis Farrakhan and Milo Yiannopoulos

Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones was banned from Facebook after hosting Proud Boys founder and designated hate figure Gavin McInnes on his show.: Facebook took its most aggressive step to root out incendiary content Thursday by banning prominent controversial media figures including Alex Jones, Louis Farrakhan and Milo Yiannopoulos.

Facebook’s ban covers six individuals and InfoWars. The six people are Louis Farrakhan, Alex Jones, Paul Nehlen, Milo Yiannopoulos, Paul Joseph Watson and Laura Loomer.A Facebook spokesperson said in a statement that it bans individuals and organizations “regardless of ideology.” That part appears to be true. The ban targets right-wing figures Alex Jones, Milo Yiannopoulos, Paul Joseph Watson, Laura Loomer and Paul Nehlen. But it also includes Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan.

While individual posts or pages created by InfoWars and Alex Jones have been removed in the past, the full ban comes after Jones hosted Gavin McInnes, the founder of far-right group Proud Boys and a designated hate figure on the platform, on his show, a Facebook spokesperson said. These figures, the spokesperson said, violated its policy regarding “Dangerous Individuals and Organizations.” The company said these figures called for or directly carried out acts of violence against people based on factors like race, ethnicity or national origin; were a self-described or identified follower of a hateful ideology; used hate speech or slurs in their social media profiles; or previously had content removed for hate speech.

Tech Who gives a fuck? Where’s MuhFreeSpeech if you run a public platform that literally 1 billion people a day log in to don’t CensorFreeSpeech ?

Very balanced banning. All conservatives and one crazy idiot who isn’t liberal just a crazy idiot. At least the bias is out in the open.

Why is Facebook allowed to deny a customer based on religion or race ?

That's why they will eventually fail!

It's a private company so they can do whatever they want. They decide who is in and out. But at the same time I think that Milo Yiannopoulos is far from being as bigoted and fascist as Alex Jones. They couldn't be banned for the dame parametres.

Silencing those you disagree with turns your platform into a dictatorship. GLHF

Great

Isn’t facebook dead? Nobody under 35 uses it.

'That part appears to be true', continues to blatantly show why it's not true. Mass censorship of right-wing ideologies is occurring right in front of us. It's not a crime to not be completely liberal, yet that's what these corporations want to manipulate society into thinking👎🏾

Lmao this is great

Didn’t Google lose 70 billion due to lost advertising because of lack of engagement on YouTube due to the forced algorithm change to stop right wingers and to ban right wingers and try to force people not to see who they sub’d to but left wing content no one wants to watch.

did they break any rules? or is it just a 'I don't like you' ban?

So when are the Post, times, CNN, MSNBC going that way too? You know, for incendiary content? Like, Venezuelan Coups and Russian conspiracy theories

I LIKE FACE BOOK ..AND MARK TO...

“We aRe a frEe SpEeCH pLaTfOrM”

This is how Myspace died. You don't remember? Tom remembers.

The same thing happened to me it's becoming shit😠😠

Time to delete Farcebook accounts.
