Facebook will pay partners from a variety of mainstream outlets from Buzzfeed to Business Insider to publish their content. NBC News is among the companies.
A relaxed and upbeat Zuckerberg explained that the new initiative will display select headlines from outlets with paywalls along with free news. Facebook News, he said, had a long gestation period and was developed over several years. “It’s an incredible thing that you’ve pushed me on for a while,” he told frequent critic Thomson.
"The great loss as newspapers close or cutback will be in local news coverage. Bloggers in basements won’t cover your planning board." he said. Facebook won’t rely solely on an algorithm to serve up personalized news; it also has a panel of curators to decide what’s relevant. In an answer to a question about the inclusion of right wing outlet Breitbart on its list of media partners, Zuckerberg said he wouldn’t discuss specific outlets but that Facebook News needed a diversity of viewpoints.
You mean like joining forces with a propaganda site like Breitbart? Over 3,000 advertisers have stopped using their platform of hate, lies, and racism but Facebook saw that and said, “hold up, we’ll give you money to promote that!”
Mmmm
Yes but they are partnering withan ultra right press!
Huh?rolandsmartin hwmnylx amjoyshow
Yeah! Breitbart😡
For journalists that write political propaganda full of lies for the facebook platform?
His 'counter action' to allowing FAKE NEWS AND LIES disseminate all over FB..lol. I bet he thinks Pirro Hannity Carlson Ingraham Huckabee Beck Jones Limbaugh 4 and 8 Chan Breitbart are 'Journalists' too... ZuckerbergDisconnected
Ha! Social media is what helped to ruin journalism. Every hack on the internet is now a 'journalist' whether they report the truth or make it all up. Has led to MSM becoming the same for ratings.
Doubleplusungood.
Journalism? Ha!
That’s. Hilarious.
Ya, right.
All journalism is not created equal. Facebook will make and break companies based on favorable narrative.
'... to promote *propaganda.'
Prove It.
Facebook announces new effort to suck money out of legit media before it changes “terms of service” and attempts to crush the life out of 1st amendment for good.
Prepare for propaganda 2.0
Partner with media to promote something, but not journalism because Breitbart: is not journalism. Try again please.
Facebook want both lies and the truth. The bigger the onslaught, the fuller the pockets of Mark.
Breitbart is not news outlet. They are solely a right wing propaganda machine.
The rebirth of InfoWars coming to a Facebook feed near you.
Oh lord..no🤦🏻♀️
BB aint news
Except they think Breitbart is a legit news source 🙄🤦
'promote' stuff like Brietbart Zuckerberg facebook fbnewsroom
the laugh of the day
That’s like saying the KKK and the Arian Brotherhood partner to promote diversity!
Good luck finding journalists
Hahahaha yeah ok. What a joke.
Ironic.
MarkZucherberg
The false propaganda democrat networks want more control over information, fact
curated journalism . (propaganda)
What journalism?
Talk about controlling the message
Get ready for ads, Chinese propaganda and sjw demented politically correct grey slop
That's like a robber is lecturing how to make our homes safer.
The Daily Caller isn’t journalism
That’s like Amazon hostile takeover of Whole Foods.
No thanks
Zuck has a face you would be happy to punch.
This will surely solve all the problems and not create new ones.
Well then he has to actually pick journalists and not state propaganda robots
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
To promote misinformation
What would corporate media know about journalism since all they produce is clickbait false narratives.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Pravda will be happy
As opposed to the blatant lies and white supemacist views Facebook (Zuckerberg) promotes? cool.
I'm sure this will go well.
An effort by THEM to police the advertisements on their platform would be a good start.
