The U.S. Department of Transportation is investigating the FAA's approval of Boeing 737 MAX jetliners

The inquiry focuses on a safety system that has been implicated in the Oct. 29 Lion Air crash that killed 189 people, according to a government official briefed on its status. Aviation authorities are looking into whether the anti-stall system may have played.

Wow

boeing and faa deserve extreme scrutiny. Civil liability of course but also CRIMINAL if actions and evidence is found showing intentional or reckless disregard for precautions with MCAS system. Amounting to unnecessary risk of HUMAN LIFE to secure BILLIONS in market share.

The FAA is part of Boeings dark pool. PAY FOR PLAY.

You ever look at the Lockheed parking lot in Sunnyvale lots like a bmw and mercedes dealership. Tivia question. What really impeached the Great Nixon ? He pissed off the defense contractors by stopping the Vietnam War.

I welcome this move. FAANews approval for 737 MAX should be thoroughly investigated. Brazenness that they showed by not issuing guidance to ground these planes until rest of world already had done so is really shameful. What happened to erring on side of caution?

As if the lack of Transportation dept oversight on Boeing had nothing to do with it

Now check to see if Chao owns any Boeing stock.

The bigger question is, why did Boeing or the FAA did not ground the jets once they figured out the programming fault?

About time. The sheer complacency and political interference relegated the FAA from world's 1 position on aviation safety to the world's last position. Ethiopia clearly did not trust the American FAA and sent the Black Boxes to France. From 1 to the bottom in only 2 years

Still remember the editorial last month where the WSJ used the cancelation of Airbus’ a380 as a lesson in the problems with Socialisim. Well the a380 never killed passengers.

I am convinced that Boeing bribed FAA inspectors to approve 737 MAX.

Certified under Obama

Good. Not impressed by or proud of the timing or how Boeing, the FAA or the President responded to this.

We should also hold accountable the faulty maintenance offered by Airline Companies. Far too many times the standards which we rely upon are disregarded. Policy should be changed when it comes to maintenance and those whom regulate its purpose. Answers not more political jargon.

Minimum man slaughter for both $ba and FAA

This is an anachronism which should have been tackled immediately. How dare officials like Trump and Co. even allowed for a few days for this unsafe murderous airliner to stay in our airspace occupied by anyone of any nationality. The CEO's obviously bought and sold Trump.

Corporate manslaughter charges could be coming against Boeing/FAA.

What! Who does the FAS report to?

That so good news.. set some accountability.. if found guilty, punish them for the death of lionair and EthiopianAirlineCrash BoeingAirplanes FAANews

one step closer to officially blaming the $BA 737 random issue on realDonaldTrump boeing
