CBS 21 News is LIVE NOW with our eclipse special to showcase coverage from Erie and other parts of PA, minutes before totality peaks.Huge crowds await a total solar eclipse in North America. Join us for 'Eclipse Across America' as we track the celestial sensation.An event that hasn't been seen in PA since 1806, drawing in tens of thousands of people, all in the hopes of being one of the many to view a total solar eclipse .
CBS 21 will be covering the spectacle all day from all angles, with our very own Ed Russo out at Erie where 100% totality will occur. Earlier last month, State Police confirmed that they are expecting about 250,000 people to travel to Erie just for the celestial event. In Central PA, enthusiasts have been preparing for months to view the partial eclipse, that will be at 92% totality.
The eclipse in PA will be starting at 2 p.m. with best viewing times being at around 3:21p.m. CBS 21's Elise Person and TJ Anthony will be in Hershey and York covering the local excitement the phenomenon has created.Ahead of that, CBS 21 along with The National Desk, have carefully analyzed multiple impacts the eclipse will have and how to safely view it.
