Greenwood Beach in Evanston closed for season due to staffing shortages.

This year, the city has added 23 new certified lifeguards on staff but even with the new hires, staffing levels won’t allow for all beaches to be supervised properly. According to the release, closing Greenwood Beach will allow resources to be consolidated and spent at the other five beaches within city limits.

South Boulevard Beach, Lee Street Beach, Clark Street Beach, and Lighthouse Beach are remaining open and fully staffed. Lincoln Street Beach, which is operated by Northwestern University, is also open.

I routinely visit a beach not far from where I live. It is a public beach. There are no life guards. It is the ocean. People continue to swim and many of them survive. Quit coddling people. No lifeguards, swim at your own risk. Too much drama.

POTUS haven't you been bragging about the hiring boom? Where are all of the new hires?

Philadelphia pool season begins as some locations open on rolling scheduleThe City of Philadelphia says it will open 50 pools this summer as the nation deals with an ongoing lifeguard shortage. What could possibly go wrong 😉 The soda tax was used to open pools? I thought it was passed to give away free pre-kindergarten. You people in Philly are fools for tolerating over taxation. This schedule has my local pool opening in three days, uhm, the entire playground is a construction site prohibiting access to the pool which hasn't even been cleaned of winter debris🤔🤔. Mitchell playground.

Four lifeguards, whistles at the ready, watched from their tall chairs stationed around the water. With a dozen of the city's pools shuttered due to a lifeguard shortage, families sometimes line up more than an hour before the one at Frederick Douglass Park opens, Ford said.
