The European Union executive will recommend on Wednesday that border restrictions be gradually lifted and travel stalled by the coronavirus pandemic allowed to restart in order to revive tourism, a major industry across the 27-country bloc.

The executive European Commission will make a slew of non-binding recommendations, including that targeted restrictions replace a general ban on travel, and that internal border checks slowly be lifted as the health situation improves. The Commission estimates some 6.4 million jobs could be lost in tourism, which employed 12 million people before the crisis.

This is a sensible move, but there should be some critera for quarantine exemption.. all visitors from countries who have achieved predetermined critera WRT virus controls should be allowed to travel freely. We need some leadership on this.

The person making the decision to unlock the borders for economic advancement isn’t smarter than me. But, I have to listen to THEIR idea and respect their authority. Now we know the world respect money more than scientific facts. It’s a balancing act of economics vs health.

I’m all for open borders under normal circumstances but they’re going to be a lot more fucking ravaged having folks traipsing around all over Europe

:) Dilemma Watch HongKong + Macau + Shenzhen + Guangdong, i.e. GBA....then China.
