While a noble effort to be sure, this initiative seems short-sighted, and I doubt can demonstrably show a worthwhile reduction in waste versus, say, mandating quality control that ensures a longer life, assessing manufacturers advance fees a la tire producers, vs locking in tech.
This will help our environment to use only 1 cord instead of a bunch of different cords. It will reduce rubber waste and harmful materials other cords use.
