NAIROBI - Ethiopia said on Saturday that threats of any kind towards resolving a dispute with its neighbours over the filling and operation of a massive hydropower dam were “misguided, unproductive and clear violations of international law”.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s office made no mention of any person or any country in a statement on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam , which is at the centre of a dispute over Nile water supplies. In the call, held in front of reporters at the White House, Trump said he had also told Egypt the same thing, saying it was a dangerous situation and that Cairo could end up “blowing up that dam.”
“Occasional statements of belligerent threats to have Ethiopia succumb to unfair terms still abound,” Abiy’s office said. “These threats and affronts to Ethiopian sovereignty are misguided, unproductive, and clear violations of international law.”Egypt says it is dependent on the Nile for more than 90% of its scarce fresh water supplies, and fears the dam could have a devastating effect on its economy.
NSalamouny I bet Turkey has something to do with.
Win - Win either way.
I actually noticed that how both countries lead by idiot and selfish person (Egypt & US) ..... fuck them all
thats true; we never had or will. EthiopiaNileRights ItsMyDam GERD Ethiopia🇪🇹🇪🇹🇪🇹
Trump telling Egypt to blow up the Dam in his not so subtle way
Why it can’t didn’t Egypt build Aswan dam
Egypt’s complaints about the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam look a little hypocritical given its actions around the Aswan Dam. Ethiopia is emulating what Egypt did 60 years ago to boost its national development.
Ethiopia never had any intentions to sign a fair deal, they only extended a useless negotiations to gain time until they finish building and operating their dam.
No cursing, please.

Find the $$$ trail, how much has he been paid by 🇪🇬to flex his imperialist muscles on other sovereign country
Good move abiye, ignore those noise coming from some people who would love to see Ethiopia remain underdeveloped and poor.
This simmering issue could boil over to become quite ugly.
Good for you Ethiopia.
Egypt will never accept water insecurity with a population of over 102 million, Egypt is central to regional security, the US and its allies will support Egypt.
This ain't about economic development, AFA the dam is concerned 4 🇪🇹. It is a political dam aimed at diverting political demands of self rule, freedom and equality in Ethiopia. Abiy's govt used the dam issue to label opposition politicians traitors and imprison them w/o trial.
They are building a strong case for imperialism. They prove, step by step, methodically, that nations cannot survive without expanding their territories to have a vital space, 'Lebensraum' as Hitler called it. Ethiopia blocks the Nile, then what? Egypt shuts down Suez canal?
Ethiopian government is manipulating whole the time!!
Ethiopia doesnt exist
In a year they can back that up by dropping the flood gates.
Well... UN Security Council may see otherwise. Egypt has the right to defend itself, especially that all peaceful attempts had failed due to Ethiopian unilateral steps.
Why the air quotes? it is aggression
