Of all the problems in Los Angeles, there is one that is worse than the others, and that’s the problem of corruption. It’s worse because it diverts resources, takes attention and diminishes trust in government, and that makes it much harder to get anything accomplished.
Los Angeles voters deserve truthfulness and transparency in the next mayor, as well as a clean slate that is free from political IOUs or favors. Flynn recently pleaded guilty to a count of bribery in connection with an arrangement that included a full-tuition scholarship for the son of then-L.A. County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas. Ridley-Thomas is also facing charges in the case for arranging county contracts for USC.
