“Para trabajar en conjunto, identificar, apoyar las investigaciones y, al final, apoyar las judicializaciones y las consecuencias para quienes se atreven a realizar actividades corruptas”, aseguró. “Si hemos de ser eficaces, si vamos a pemanecer firmes con nuestras convicciones, debemos de cortar de raíz la corrupción, se encuentre donde se encuentre, es una de nuestras prioridades más importantes”, indicó Harris.
La corrupción rampante es uno de los problemas profundos en el Estado de Guatemala, como ejemplo el ex presidente Otto Pérez Molina y su vicepresidenta, Roxana Baldetti, se encuentran bajo prisión por defraudar al erario público durante su mandato, entre el 2012 y 2015.
“Nosotros estamos en una franca lucha contra la corrupción”, respondió el presidente guatemalteco al ser cuestionado por dos periodistas estadounidenses, quienes lo señalaron de ser parte del problema de la corrupción.“Le puedo dar la respuesta: cero”, agregó el mandatario.
