if he loses the election—are really scary for any rationally minded person. However, I’m finding these sentiments especially hard to take, thanks to the PTSD, anxiety, depression, and ADHD I experience. Because of this, it is not hard for me to imagine the way almost any situation can become a worst-case scenario. My roommates and I stay up late most nights, worrying about if things go south, how many more of us will die, how can we escape the country, or how will we survive to 25.
I am not the only person with trauma; millions of other people in this country are also mentally ill, have experienced sexual aggression or assault, have known physical violence, have suffered micro- and macro-aggressions, have known sexism and racism and Islamophobia and anti-Semitism, have experienced transphobia and homophobia, have known loss. We don’t want this to happen to other people—we should want our world to be better.
My message is this: In this election and in every election after, it is up to us to fight against fascism, to listen to what our politicians are saying, to watch what they aredoing, and hold them accountable for the lives they are impacting—and in some cases, the lives they are ending.
I'll vote in favor of the 2nd Amendment.
