“I have not dropped my support for Kanye, although I think 2024 would be better than 2020,” he added. When asked to explain why he'd like the rapper to postpone his presidential dreams, Musk unhelpfully stated that “Brevity is the sole meunière of wheat,” seemingly merging the Shakespeare quote “brevity is the soul of wit” with a classic french fish dish, sole meunière, and a cereal grain.

When West initially announced he was joining the race on July 4th, Musk enthusiastically responded “You have my full support!” before backtracking 72 hours later when a Twitter user pointed out a few of the rapper's more conservative beliefs. Musk responded in a since-deleted tweet, “We may have more differences of opinion than I anticipated.” But, clearly, no difference so big a little quality time on the phone couldn't fix.
