Elon Musk And Jeff Bezos Using NASA As An ATM, Says Bernie SandersBernie Sanders criticized Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos for 'using NASA as an ATM' at taxpayers' expense. The senator poses a very valid point: why is it the burden of the U.S. government to fund companies owned by two of the richest men in the world? Well, it's no different than big pharma using Federal grants to create new drug and once the trails are over, patent and trademark said drugs for private companies, and then, sell them back to the taxpayers at a higher price. Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos get billions of free money through the STEM research grants via the taxpayer's dime... Taxpayer's money are used to develop almost everything but they are not the ones who inherit the wealth only the burden of tax debt the wealthy doesn't pay themselves. NASA isn't, and has never, funded SpaceX for the sake of funding SpaceX. NASA has paid SpaceX to develop capabilities that it needed (which would have been FAR more expensive for NASA to develop themselves) and then purchased those capabilities.
