It's absolutely true. People, especially Americans, place way too much value on degrees and schools. Education is not limited to where a person went to school.
Should be illegal to load naive kids up with debt more then a house/car (with no collateral) and will never change until employers stop playing the degree game first.
Actually, it should be fun in the learning aspect, if you choose the career you want to master; if you treat it seriously, and still take time to exercise and socially interact; The career picks you!
Surely for children of the rich /upper/ upper middle class. Wasn't fun for me. Was 2busy trying to think costs / grades...time needed to graduate ntime. Was same for the small cluster of black students n my study grp at the time. Books. Study. Swat . Write papers was the goal.

The real benefit from college is two-fold: (1) if you can, going to a top school and making connections in some sorority or fraternity that you can use throughout your life, & (2) as a measuring stick of your intellectual abilities & ability to follow orders and instructions.
This does not apply to all field
