A pair of House Democrats have opened an investigation into SpaceX over Russia’s alleged use of the company’s Starlink internet terminals in its war against Ukraine, though Elon Musk has denied ties between his company and Russia after Ukrainian officials claimed terminals were illegally obtained and deployed on the frontline.Reps.
Both lawmakers requested details from SpaceX about how the company has eliminated security issues that could cause Russia to obtain terminals illegally. Raskin and Garcia, who said they plan to coordinate investigative efforts with the Pentagon and other government agencies, requested SpaceX respond to a series of questions by March 20, Bloomberg“Starlink is an invaluable resource for Ukrainians in their fight against Russia’s brutal and illegitimate invasion,” the lawmakers wrote, adding it was “alarming” Russia was using SpaceX’s technology “to coordinate attacks against Ukrainian troops.
