Tesla’s Optimus robot did not dazzle robotics experts and can't yet walk. But if the project delivers, it could give the company an edge in manufacturing.

, but the two prototypes unveiled last week did not exactly dazzle with agility. The company’s most advanced robot, made with all Tesla components and close to production-ready, according to Musk, waved unsteadily before being shoved across the stage by three human helpers.

A second humanoid robot, described by Musk as for “rough development” and made from a mixture of Tesla and off-the-shelf parts, was able to walk forwards—very unsteadily.

Because it isn't that impressive, or because it was made by a company owned by a conservative? If it had been made by Apple, would they have loved it?

When did wired stop being a pro-science & technology outlet?

Nice framing. Gradually then suddenly. You should know technology that seems primitive can exponentially explode to great heights in a short amount of time.

It has love beads!

wow, your comprehension is terrible. not what happened, not what he said. he showed progress so far (early prototypes), talked about what it *would* mean once humanity has a near limitless workforce. You fail at journalism.

Omg the robots are coming!!! Run!! Oh hang on they can't Walk 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Boston dynamics watching like

Haha. You should take 'science' out of your name. You are not qualified.

Ask the shameless lying huckster if it can also serve as a boat.

It did walk... just a really early version. Still impressive when all other walking robots I’ve seen have been shorter or bigger, and when considering it’ll be purchable.

'It doesn't work, but if it does, it'll be great!' 🙄 It was a dog&pony show with dead animals being dragged onto the stage.

And if I figure it out first I may have an edge!

There's a Boston Dynamics robot on Fivver i can hire right now to come over and knock over your coffee.

Do we want robots to be exactly like us or is it better to have them a little more retro sci fi tongue in cheek? Kind of creepy dealing with a robot that thinks, acts , looks , strives to be just like a human but we all know isn’t. More human than human. 🧐

'All lights are red, there is no chance that it will work, but what if it did?'

You'd think that a journalistic outfit like Wired would be more weary of someone like E*on, but here we are, believing his every promise

People should stop listening to this grifter:

Mine would be headless night one

Well romyreiner fully baked a pie🥧👏 didn't bake a pie Romeo but I whipped up a drawing & it was fully approved from Australia🇦🇺😂 CNNSitRoom 📰

Ah the “experts”.

Even the name. I love Transformers. Have done since the mid 80s. But here it just feels... incredibly cheesy.

Musk is not Tony Stark. He is Justin Hammer! LOL

Segway 2.0

Short $TSLA for LoL

Just another toy from the fraudulent narcissist.

I hope the robot tells elonmusk to stop support russian propaganda. It is embarrassing...

They’ve only been working on this for a year. What do people expect?
