Elon Musk has ruled out the possibility of a winter for artificial intelligence, and hinted that the current boom is just beginning. Musk's tweet was in response to comments from Adam D'Angelo, the CEO of Quora, who said he expects to see"continual progress" from where AI currently stands all the way to artificial general intelligence – without a period of time that feels like a"winter," or downturn.
"There are just too many obvious things left to be done. And the underlying exponential growth in compute has a very long way to go," D'Angelo, who recently announced the launch of Quora's AI-powered chatbot called Poe, said on"For this purpose, I define AGI as the ability to do anything a human can do while working at a computer with internet access . I have less confidence in physical machines," D'Angelo added.
