Wrote Kemper today, “The century-old organization that hosted the debutante ball had an unquestionably racist, sexist, and elitist past. I was not aware of this history at the time, but ignorance is no excuse. I was old enough to have educated myself before getting involved.” I unequivocally deplore, denounce, and reject white supremacy. At the same time, I acknowledge that because of my race and my privilege, I am the beneficiary or a system that has dispensed unequal justice and unequal rewards. There is a very natural temptation when you come the subject of internet criticism, to tell yourself that your detractors are getting it all wrong.
Her apology is very sincere!
Ellie did nothing wrong. No need to apologize Ms Kemper, bc Black ppl were allowed to participate in the debutante ball in the 70's.

BethLynch2020 a decent apology imo. her show kimmy schmidt is pretty funny and centers the stories of abused women, the poor, poc, and lgbtq people. to me that reflects more about who she is than going to this ball when practically a kid.

She was 19. If we were held to the same standard for all the crap we did at that age, we'd all be canceled and never work again, according to today's 'rules.' Put the pasts of those condemning her, under a microscope and see how quickly they become a victim of their own judgments
