More celebrities are calling for a boycott of hotels owned by the kingdom of Brunei after it enacted new Islamic laws that make gay sex and adultery punishable by stoning to death.

Comedian Ellen DeGeneres and tennis star Billie Jean King are just the latest to follow actor George Clooney in condemning the harsh new legislation, urging the public to boycott nine hotels owned by the tiny Southeast Asian kingdom -- three in the United Kingdom, two in the United States, two in France and two in Italy."We need to do something now," DeGeneres wrote on Instagram along with a list of the hotels.

— Billie Jean King April 3, 2019 Many of the hotels have refrained from commenting directly on Clooney's call for a boycott."Dorchester Collection's Code emphasises equality, respect and integrity in all areas of our operation, and strongly values people and cultural diversity amongst our guests and employees. Inclusion and diversity remain core beliefs as we do not tolerate any form of discrimination," the company said in a statement.

— Jamie Lee Curtis March 28, 2019 Queer Eye's Bobby Berk also called to #BoycottBrunei on Twitter: CNN's Ben Westcott contributed to this report

How about we boycott Islam, which is the real problem.

Now. Those are the hotels to go to.

The rest of the world should move to ban gay marriage and gay acts. TimeToAct

I think BJK looks fabulous! And you! Sempre!

Every country has is own laws why do the west love to intervene in people's matters and not mind their own.

Majority of Americans hardly ever travel outside of their city, let alone state. I guarantee almost all of them never heard of Brunei before this, and I'm willing to bet have never stayed at one of these hotels. It's the same for these virtue signaling celebs. What a joke.

Must everyone live the way America wants?

I am pretty sure the sultan of Brunei, whose wealth tops $20B and is driven around in a 24-carat gold-covered Rolls Royce, is not going to be checking the hotels' income statements and lamenting his bad fortune.

Stay out of this issue folks becos 🇧🇳 Brunei as country is not like some western or European countries that practice virtually everything including the ones God forbid us as a human being.Neither the Bible Nor the Quran approved of gay or homosexuality.

Why won’t we boycott Saudi Arabia then? Aren’t they doing same thing ?

Makes one wonder how this sultan of the little kingdom of Brunei, which has fewer people than Minneapolis ends up owing all these luxury hotels all around the world?

Ridiculous

TheEllenShow BillieJeanKing - that's great. Now how about the slave trade, child marriage, female mutilation---ever been upset or boycotted Or are you just concerned about identity politics, hmm?

Brunei says they are going to stone homosexuals to death. DeGeneres and Billie Jean King do not understand that boycotts of select elites hotels, that they may stay at, is futile. Let us be the first to call for a ban on stones.

is there a LGBT correlation with the hotel? there's something better to boycott ... the penis and vagina (LOL) that come from that country that you have to boycott, are fair enough

How come we don't get the same push back as it relates to Saudi Arabia punishment of gay people? I smell 'economic hypocrisy' here.

I don't disagree but there are other Islamist countries who are pretty awful to minorities, Gays and women.

Why wont you be honest and Include all the other countries who practice this...

OH! Yea! Well... Next time I stay at the Beverly Hills Hotel I'm gonna Order Pork! That'll teach 'Em!

The sultan of Brunei along with all the other religious based laws on the face of the earth are archaic and toxic that impede humanity from progressing. It is time we place all these religions on the Fiction shelf where they belong

Hehe Ellen is too cute, here's a letter for her TheEllenShow

Gay... Pls do yr stuff in the USA.. ⚠️

Religions are thoroughly rooted in the past. As soon as they mention any topic that is ethically wrong then they cease to be a matter of fact or faith. So I stopped taking them at face value on the topic of slavery. Thereafter I use common sense to decide what is fair.

Just here to see what retardation is being pushed today

Officially Gay free Hotels! It is actual promotion of Hotels to a few billion people. Thanks!

CNN thank you for all you do to stop homophobia! My wife is 5 months pregnant with our daughter who is also gay

Gun no boycot Human mentaliti

Billie Jean King has Trump like hands, wow...

How brave of them lol.

I wonder what the ruling religious ideology of Brunei is? 🤔

Did they put on hijabs for that? Aren't they supposed to respect Islam by law?

Like with like...Shiria Law demands it. Everyone get a bag of stones and stone each hotel.

I bet the sultan of Brunei has lots of gay sex. he just doesnt want others knowing so he is trying to kill off all his ex lovers...

This is a great example as to why religion and politics shouldn't mix. Religion is a set of unproven beliefs, not a set of substantiated facts.

Every human being should speak out about this and boycott These hotels should be empty

Liberals, party of zero morals.

Like anyone would listen to any of these people. LOL

the boycott resolution is now so commonplace it has no effect and is too generic and a lazy approach

This is your reminder that Brunei is a Muslim majority country and their gay sex stoning law comes directly from radical Islam. CNN won't tell you that. CNNisFakeNews

Just don't go to Brunei and you're safe.

It would have stopped a long long long time ago.... if you white folks would a protested .

yes!

I would say this goes way beyond 'hotel boycotts'!

Ellen sure wouldn’t want to go

While I get what they are doing, and it is great, most of us are not able to pay to stay at one of these hotels anyway. It's like the protest that shows how huge the wealth gap is...
