The Children’s Theatre of Elgin is one of 10 Elgin-area groups to share $275,000 in grant funding from the Seigle Foundation. The village of South Elgin, Elgin Community College, Kane Senior Council and the Association for Individual Development are hosting a free senior health and wellness fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, April 26, at ECC’s Building E at 1700 Spartan Drive.

The agencies receiving money are Centro de Informacion, African American Coalition of Kane County, Chamber Music on the Fox, Elgin Area Historical Society, Children’s Theatre of Elgin, Elgin Master Chorale, Elgin Symphony Orchestra, Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra, Hamilton Wings and Side Street Studio Arts.The District U-46 School Board has unanimously approved the $600,000 purchase of 12.3 acres of vacant Elgin land at 2604 Rohrssen Road from the Archdiocese of Chicago.

Chief of Staff Brian Lindholm told the board that the district is moving a community engagement session from April 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, at Eastview Middle School, 321 Oak Ave., Bartlett. Wenstrup has taught courses on the Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel and Motown Records for the Continuing Education Departments of College of DuPage and Oakton Community College, and has lectured at over 80 public libraries, event organizers said.
