CAIRO -- Egypt’s former antiquities minister and noted archaeologist Zahi Hawass on Sunday revealed details of an ancient funerary temple in a vast necropolis south of Cairo.
Archaeologists also found a 4-meter long papyrus that includes texts of the Book of the Dead, which is a collection of spells aimed at directing the dead through the underworld in ancient Egypt, he said. They unveiled at least 22 burial shafts up to 12 meters deep, with more than 50 wooden coffins dating back to the New Kingdom, said Hawass, who is Egypt’s best known archaeologist.
The discovery was the result of cooperation between the Antiquities Ministry and the Zahi Hawass Center at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
Bury me in one of those.. I'm a Legend!!
The scandal of scholars because of the presence of many shrouds belonging to kings, and who knows if these were not Assyrian kings who were buried before the Pharaohs because of medicine
sad and ironic. for being one of the great civilization s of the world, all the work the ancients did to protect their after-lives has amounted to being a costly waste of time because of modern day grave robbers under the guise of science
Put it back, there’s a reason it was 40 feet deep.
My God! Do we really need to dig up another resting soul?
