Stanford celebrates after defeating Arizona for the 2021 NCAA Women's basketball championship at the Alamodome. As March Madness returns to San Antonio, we’re celebrating the San Antonio Sports Foundation.The NCAA men’s basketball tournament is returning to San Antonio for the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight next week, in no small part thanks to efforts by the nonprofit San Antonio Sports.

This follows the NCAA Women’s Final Four in 2021 and the NCAA Men’s Final Four in 2018. And San Antonio is again on tap to host the NCAA Men’s Final Four, in 2025. San Antonio Sports has done a fabulous job working with city leaders to put forward winning bids for these major events, which showcase our city, spark tourism and, in turn, have an immense economic impact. San Antonio Sports has estimated a total economic impact of about $1 billion for all events it has hosted.

The Sweet 16 and Elite Eight are expected to generate about $10 million in economic impact, San Antonio Sports Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Jenny Carnes told us.
