MANSFIELD, Texas — An earthquake was detected near Mansfield in Tarrant County Wednesday afternoon, according to officials. The USGS map said the earthquake was detected just over four miles southwest of Mansfield, which is located in southeastern Tarrant County. It was about five kilometers deep, according to the USGS.
A 3.2 earthquake is on the smaller end of the Richter scale but big enough for people near the epicenter to feel it. Mansfield police told WFAA there were no reports of injuries or damages, but they were receiving several calls of people asking if it was an earthquake. Police said they felt the earthquake at the public safety building, which"shook a little.", but it wasn't clear if the earthquake was felt. Quakes in the 2.0 range on the Richter scale are considered minor and may only be felt slightly.
