were the next-best in their win rate at just 33%. When Davis was off the field, the Lions ran for 140 yards on 14 carries. When he was on the field, Detroit was held to just 41 yards also on 14 carries. Now, some of that was skewed by Davis’ extra use in the Eagles’ red-zone and goal-line defense, but those numbers are striking.

Besides the strange lack of snaps for Davis, the Eagles run defense’s biggest issue was their inability to finish tackles.of CBS Sports had Philadelphia missing 16 tackles on Sunday, with only the Panthers having more in 2022 season openers. Swift alone forced six missed tackles—including a couple on his 50-yard run early in the game—after forcing just 17 in all of last year.

The Eagles never featured live tackling during their practices in camp and mostly rested their starters in preseason games. The players have already sworn that wasn’t part of their tackling problem on Sunday, but the facts speak for themselves. Cornerback
