A new artificial sensing system could enable soft bioelectronics to perceive and process touch in real time, offering an alternative to current devices with a sensory processing lag. SciRobotics

In fast and transient somatosensory processing, the relative timing of the selected spikes is more important than the spike frequency because the ensemble of the first spikes in the spike trains encodes the dynamic tactile information. Here, inspired by the functional effectiveness of the selected spikes, we propose an artificial dynamic sensory system based on position-encoded spike spectrum. We use a mixed ion-electron conductor to generate a potential spike signal.

We design artificial receptors that have different ion relaxation times ; thus, a sequence of the spikes from the receptors creates a spike spectrum, providing the spatial information and the temporal information . The artificial receptors can be incorporated by as much as 132/square centimeters by using only two global signal addressing lines for sensor operation. Structural simplicity of the device opens the possibility of scalable fabrication with dense receptor integration.

Ahead of primary, Texas ballot rejections spike after new voting lawsAhead of the primary election, election officials have rejected hundreds of mail-in ballots and the most populous counties are being hit the hardest. MSNBC’s Alicia Menendez is joined by Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo and Julián Castro, MSNBC political analyst and former HUD Secretary, to discuss the challenges voters are facing, the need for federal voting rights legislation, and the recent controversial moves made by Texas Republican leaders. Good if they don't meet the requirements, then they are invalid just like when I went to DMV and was told one of my 4 documents didn't meet requirements and I had to get another qualifying document. Too bad, so sad I wonder what will be found if you compare the voter demographics of those rejected ballots That means the secure election and voter integrity laws are working.
