Dwayne Johnson's daughter Simone begins WWE training to carry 'legacy'

Charles TrepanyWorld Wrestling Entertainment announced online Monday that Dwayne"The Rock" Johnson's teenage daughter, Simone, has begun training to"become a WWE Superstar."

Should she compete in the WWE, the 18-year-old would become a fourth generation pro wrestler, following in the footsteps of her WWE-champ-turned-movie-star dad, her grandfather Rocky Johnson and her great-grandfather Peter Maivia. "It means the world to me," Johnson told WWE."To know that my family has such a personal connection to wrestling is really special to me and I feel grateful to have the opportunity, not only to wrestle, but to carry on that legacy."Simone Johnson joined her dad, Dwayne, at the world premiere of "Baywatch" on May 13, 2017, in Miami. Johnson says she is joining the "family business" to become a professional wrestler.

According to WWE's website, Johnson's great-grandfather Maivia won several wrestling championships on the West Coast in the 1970s and mentored other wrestlers like Billy Graham and Wild Samoan Afa. He died of cancer in 1982 at age 45.
