While the various houses and factions in Dune 2 battle for supremacy, Dune has also been warring with itself at the box office. According to a report by Variety, Dune 2 is already exceeding Dune: Part One's box office take. In its second weekend, the sequel earned $46 million, while Dune: Part One earned $41 million in its opening weekend. Dune 2 is already ahead of its predecessor's $108 million domestic take with a $157 million gross in just under two weeks.
