Dublin Mayor Melissa Hernandez has been appointed the BART board to fill the Alameda County district 5 seat vacated by the resignation of John McPartland. Thursday, Oct. 22, 2020. The BART Board of Directors on Thursday appointed Dublin Mayor Melissa Hernandez to the seat representing several cities in Alameda County.
Hernandez said one priority is keeping the transit system reliable, affordable, and safe for everyone. “By fostering dialogue with my colleagues, partnerships with state and federal agencies and leaders, and championing equitable policies, I strive to create a more inclusive and accessible transportation system that benefits everyone, even when times are tough,’’ she wrote in her board application.
Hernandez said one of the most significant challenges the board faces is addressing the agency’s financial crisis.
