The crash occurred about 3:15 p.m. at the coffee shop in the Arlington Plaza on Schuyler Avenue in North Arlington, according to borough Mayor Dan Pronti. “From what I know, it was a newer driver who thought he was backing out of the spot but was in drive,” Pronti, a former Montclair police officer, said Friday.Due to extensive damage, the business was forced by the borough to close, Pronti said. But the franchise owner is making plans to make repairs and reopen.
The store underwent renovations about a year ago, which included the installation of a pick-up window and other changes to the facade and interior. No charges were filed, but North Arlington police continue to investigate, Pronti said.
