A Ventura County man was arrested early Wednesday on suspicion of plowing a car into a group of teenagers Tuesday afternoon near Westlake High School, killing one, after a stabbing at a Walmart in Simi Valley.

The investigation, including evidence at the scene and witness statements, led authorities to conclude the crash was intentional, Ventura County Sheriff’s Capt. William Hutton said.

The vehicle reportedly struck a group of children, including a 15-year-old boy, and two girls ages 16 and 15, sheriff’s officials said. The 15-year-old male student died at a local hospital, officials said.A white sedan was left lying on its roof in the roadway, which was expected to be closed for several hours.

On Tuesday afternoon, Simi Valley police were called to a Walmart in the 250 block of Cochran Street after a customer allegedly stabbed an employee inside the store and fled the scene in a white Toyota Camry, city police said.The suspect then traveled to Camarillo and was involved in an argument with family members that did not result in injuries before driving to Thousand Oaks, sheriff’s officials said.

“During this time of unimaginable loss, our thoughts and prayers remain with these students, their families, friends, and the entire Warrior community,” Conjeo Valley Unified School District Supt. Mark McLaughlin said in a statement to parents.Parents, staff and children witnessed Anthony Duran collapse after a fight with another boy at the trampoline park, Merced police said.
