Construction at 5th and Pike in downtown Seattle shows signs of revitalization. Workers here are putting the finishing touches on a redesigned public space inside in the US Bank Center. One in three downtown Seattle businesses are now offering incentives for their workers to return to the office, according to new data from the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce.
This type of progress is seen across the street with painters outside and others inside the new XO Seattle space, which is now just about five weeks from breathing life into a vacant retail space that started as the Coliseum Theatre in 1916. “There’s business to be done downtown, an energy here that we want to be a part of,” said Lisa Bridge, CEO at Ben Bridge Jeweler.
“Compared to other cities, I like it. It’s almost European. It seems European. A lot of people are in the city, a lot of bicycles,” he answered.
