The Soul of Jazz: An American Adventure touring exhibit debuted on Wednesday, June 1 at the former ESPN Zone in Downtown Disney as part of Disneyland’s continuing Celebrate Soulfully campaign.

The jazz club-themed exhibit takes over the former ESPN Zone gift shop — which just happens to be about the size of the Half Note Club in the Pixar animated film.

Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong, Benny “King of Swing” Goodman and Al “Jumbo” Hirt were among the Dixieland at Disneyland headliners. Jazz bands played on rafts and the Mark Twain Riverboat along the Rivers of America during the Dixieland at Disneyland events. Dance floors could be found at six locations throughout the park. Tickets were a reasonable $4.50.

Disneyland kicked off Black Music Month on Wednesday with a rotating cast of musicians performing as part of the park’s Celebrate Soulfully campaign — which celebrates the work of Black artists through music, dance, food and stories.
