Mexican song shaping into anthem for country's growing outcry over femicide, channeling anger along with hope for justice

Songwriter Vivir Quintana, 36, and members of the female collective of Latin-American singers and authors 'El Palomar', who will sing a song against femicide at Zocalo square, pose for a picture in Mexico City, Mexico March 6, 2020. Picture taken March 6, 2020.

"Everything changed in my perception of the world, in seeing that we were possible victims," Quintana said, describing how the killing of her friend inspired "Song Without Fear." At a recent rehearsal, Quintana strummed an acoustic guitar and belted in a deep voice: "At every minute of every week, they steal friends from us, they kill sisters. They destroy their bodies, they disappear them. Don't forget their names, please, Mister President."
