As domestic box office revenue ended on a down note in 2019 at $11.4 billion — falling 4 percent year-over-year but also marking the second best on record — movie attendance also took a tumble in North America

.

Total theater attendance fell 4.6 percent from 2018 to 1.244 billion last year, the National Association of Theatre Owners disclosed on Jan. 17. That's ahead of 2017's recent low of 1.236 billion but still marks a steep drop from 1.301 billion last year. Is it cool to just blame Disney?

The theater ticket locally is so expensive I have to force myself to go on Tuesdays or go early in the day to get a discount

it's pretty cheap to go to the movies it's the food that's expensive I still go once a month tho can't beat a movie on the big screen also rather go by myself

That's hard to believe with End Game and Star Wars both successful at the box office.

Nobody wants to spend money watching a bunch of reboots that are flops or the same old tired Hollywood formulaic films that critics love. Critics do not put butts in seats.

i think we need more movies based on comic books and ones that can sell a breakfast cereal and a line of figurines.

Go woke, go broke

Remember what rickygervais said in his opening monologue we simple folk don’t need to hear from u...u forgot who ur audience was it’s we the people who pay ALL the taxes & ALL ur bills....so GET WOKE!

Prices go up and demand goes down in a monopoly. So thanks, Disney.

Disney is keeping cinema alive whether people like it or not 😛

Since Regal and Cinemark are again ignoring start times by jamming in more commercials (even during trailers) the number will continue to dip. The greed of Regal and Cinemark is disgusting beyond words.

And it will keep falling.

There were few to no interesting movies this past summer!
