Dolly Parton is once again using her money to make the world a slightly better place.

Vanderbilt University Medical Center, located in Nashville, Tennessee, announced on Wednesday that they received another $1 million donation from Parton to do research on pediatric infectious diseases. In a press release announcing the gift, the country icon said, “No child should ever have to suffer. I'm willing to do my part to try and keep as many of them as I can as healthy and safe as possible.

Parton also previously made a $1 million donation to the university in 2020 which was used to fund the research that went into creating the Moderna vaccine. “My longtime friend, who's been involved in research at Vanderbilt for many years, informed me that they were making some exciting advancements towards research of the coronavirus for a cure,” the singer wrote onat the time.

The music legend has long invested in philanthropy of all kinds, raising $700,000 for Tennessee flood victims in 2021, founding The Buddy Program in the early '90s to help lower high school dropout rates in Sevier County, Tennessee, and launching the Imagination Library project in 1995 .that she's “kind of addicted to the feeling of giving. Knowing that I'm doing something good for someone else.” But, that said, she doesn't love all the attention that comes with being charitable.
